Not at all. Bass is a completely standalone instrument and many of our best students started directly on bass with no prior guitar experience. The techniques and approach are quite different.
What bass guitar should I buy as a beginner?
A beginner 4-string bass and a small practice amp is all you need. Your tutor can recommend specific models within your budget during your first lesson. Decent starter packs are available from around £150.
How old do I need to be to start bass lessons in Liverpool?
We teach bass from age 8 upward. A standard bass can feel large for very young players, so your tutor will assess what works best. There's no upper age limit at all.
Will I be able to play in a band quickly?
Bass is one of the fastest instruments to get band-ready on. With consistent practice, most students can hold their own in a simple jam session within 3–6 months.
