James has been behind the kit since he was a kid, and his passion for rhythm has only grown since. A gigging musician across Merseyside, he’s performed on stage at venues all over Liverpool and brings that live-performance energy into every lesson.

His teaching style is groove-first — before anything else, he wants students to feel the music. Whether that’s locking in a solid backbeat, building up speed with paradiddles, or navigating a complex jazz groove, James structures lessons to keep things fun while making genuine progress every session.

James teaches students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners who’ve never sat behind a kit to intermediate drummers looking to push their technique further. He’s patient, encouraging, and knows exactly how to break down difficult concepts into manageable steps.

Outside of teaching, James performs regularly with bands across Liverpool, meaning the knowledge he brings into your lesson is always fresh from the stage.
